B
orn and raised in Toronto, Alicia and Liam Blore have never forgotten their Manitoba Métis roots. Alicia and Liam’s Great Grandfather, Phillip Zastre was a well-known Métis fiddler from St. Rose du Lac, Manitoba. Alicia has been studying traditional fiddling since the age of 8 with Sherry Johnson, Mathew Johnson, Anne Lederman, and others. In 2008, Alicia joined Fiddle Stories: Elder Youth Legacy project. The goal of the group is to pass on the oldest surviving traditions and teachings onto the next generation. Alicia traveled with the Fiddle Stories group to Newfoundland in 2008 and Scotland in 2010 for the North Atlantic Fiddle Convention. Liam has been accompanying Alicia on guitar and spoons for several years now, and has been playing music since a very young age. The duo have performed and provided Métis workshops to a variety of audiences at events, provincially, nationally, and internationally.
